It’s injury time, says Jonathan to new Ministers

‎President Goodluck Jonathan today swore in eight  Ministers recently cleared by the Senate and Two federal Commissioners, each appointed into the Federal Civil Service Commission and National Population Commission with a charge that they must perform as this is injury time for the administration.
The newly sworn-in Ministers who were subsequently assigned portfolios, prior to the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa, include
Mrs. Patricia Akwashiki (Information), Nasarawa; ‎Professor Nicholas Ada (Foreign Affairs-One), Benue; Augustine Akobundu (Minister of State, Defence), Abia; and Engr. Fidelix  Nwankwo (Minister of State, Health), Ebonyi.
Others are Mrs. Huawa Baffa Lawan (Niger Delta Affairs), Jigawa; Kenneth Kobani (Minister of state, Trade and Investment), Rivers ; Sen. Joel Ikenya (Labour), Taraba and Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro (Foreign Affairs -Two), Lagos.
With the appointment of Fidelix Nwankwo as the new Minister of state for Health‎, the former Minister of state health, Khaliru Alhassan who had been holding the ministry with the resignation of former Minister of Health, Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu, was appointed as the substantive minister.
Also sworn-in were two Federal Commissioners namely: Dr. Jonah Madugu (Federal Civil Service Commission) representing Benue, Plateau and Nasarawa states and Mrs Abimbola Hundehin (Federal Population Commission) representing Lagos state.
Addressing the new ministers, the president said “this is an injury time, it is like bringing a player when you have just five minutes to go in a football match. So everyone wants to know what that player will do, the magic the player will perform within that short period. The player himself will be struggling to at least kick the ball beforre  the end of the game. So you are coming in at a quite challenging period and I believe that a number of people will not envy you because government is coming to a close. But sometimes is even good to come at this time because you are now well exposed to Nigerians.”
